Marina Activities

Belize is a mecca for water sport enthusiasts and outdoorsmen looking to explore the majestic reefs, lagoons and rivers. It is a destination well known among avid divers and fisherman for offering a plethora of water-based excursions. The unique proximity of our marina located behind a large natural lagoon, and along the banks of the meandering Sittee River, provides ample opportunity for fishing or river kayaking among the giant mangroves.

Alternatively one can cruise a short distance to the Belize Barrier Reef and enjoy some Bone or Tarpon fishing in the shallows waters of the cayes. For the more competitive fishermen, one can venture beyond the reef in search of the “big one” – a Blue Marlin. If scuba diving is more your pace then the reef has numerous spectacular diving sites that offer a glimpse into Belize’s underwater kaleidoscope of exotic marine fauna and flora.

Belize’s natural beauty and diverse ecosystems is as abundant on land as it is in the ocean. From low-lying coastal plains of palms, grasses and pines, to undulating hills and mountains of conifer forests and broadleaf jungles, Belize offers millions of acres of unchartered terrain to discover.  The Marina is only a short distance from the foothills of the Maya Mountain range, where our property borders the world renown Cockscomb Jaguar Preserve. For bird-watchers and ornithologists, these jungles are “heaven”, as a variety of bird species tend to flourish both above the forest canopy and on the canopy floor.

From these foothills one can hike deep into the Belizean jungles to discover the diverse fauna and flora species that inhabit this region. Or, one can embark on an archaeological quest to discover the mysticism of the ancient Mayan ruins. Perhaps on this journey, you could encounter the illusive jaguar prowling the canopy floor. Alternatively one can enjoy a leisurely trot along the beach or the savanna plains of The Reserve Belize in the comfort of a horse’s saddle, or take a day-trip to anyone of the region’s breathtaking waterfalls. It is safe to say that The Marina does not disappoint when it comes to activities of any sort.

Sittee River Wildlife Reserve

The Sittee River Wildlife Reserve is 14,000 acres of a rich diversity of fauna and flora spanning across 5 distinct ecosystems, namely the Belizean Jungle, Subtropical Savannah, Riverine, Caribbean Marine and Coral Reef. These unique ecosystems are all found within The Reserve Belize and offer all guests the opportunity to explore the confines of this unique wildlife reserve. The community’s ability to remain sustainable relies heavily on the protection of the indigenous flora species, the health of the Sittee River and the preservation of the Giant Mangroves along our coastline.

A holistic experience for the mind, body and spirit – The Reserve embodies Belize’s mantra: “Under the Shade I Flourish.” To promote the physical, mental and spiritual wellness of our residents and guests, we offer the healing services of the PuraMaya Spa and Peak Fitness Academy. A holistic center focused on enhancing relaxation, balance, mental focus and rejuvenation, PuraMaya Spa and Peak Fitness Academy provides a unique and comprehensive menu of services.
